Overcast of the Soul

This relic took shape during a road trip through the Pacific West Coast. This was my first time car camping for this length of time, in another country, alone.

There is something so captivating, waking up with yourself, witnessing the sun rise over the ocean with the crisp overcast of clouds. Taking in that subtle hint of warmth, feeling it wash over the skin.

I really enjoy travelling solo, though it can be uncomfortable being alone with my thoughts when I’m moving from place to place. I’m somewhat of an anxious person, or heavy Vata energy as I’ve learned to reframe it. A product of my nurture and conditioning, my mind can become quite cloudy with thoughts, projections and catastrophic thinking.

What guides me back to balance is remembering the sun; it’s light and warmth; it’s purifying, cleansing, vitamin-dense healing energy. The comforting thing about the sun is, it’s always there, even on the cloudiest of days, it’s hiding underneath.

Just like anxiety, even on the days when brain fog is so thick, your true nature is there, that spark of spirit, that joy and harmony. Work diligently to remember this radiant, infinite, expansive light is always inside of you. even on the darkest days.

That clarity allows the mind to be at ease. The body needs to reach that balance and peace to find rest and recover.
